Aston Martin announced that it signed a contract with Fernando Alonso until 2026.
Aston Martin put an end to speculation about the future of Spanish pilot Fernando Alonso and announced that it had signed a new multi-year deal with him.
This deal includes Alonso staying with the team until at least the end of 2026, with an option for 2027.
Alonso's contract, which expired at the end of the season, caused rumors that he could leave the team and move to Mercedes or Red Bull.
Some even claimed he might leave the sport. However, Alonso decided to stay with Aston Martin, which he saw as his first option.
“Securing Fernando's future at Aston Martin is great news,” said team principal Mike Krack.
Krack stated that Alonso is hungry for success, fit and determined to make the team competitive.
This long-term agreement with Alonso will allow the team to stay together until 2026, when the power unit partnership with Honda begins.
Krack stated that they are looking forward to achieving more success together.
