Aston Martin put an end to speculation about the future of Spanish pilot Fernando Alonso and announced that it had signed a new multi-year deal with him.

This deal includes Alonso staying with the team until at least the end of 2026, with an option for 2027.

Alonso's contract, which expired at the end of the season, caused rumors that he could leave the team and move to Mercedes or Red Bull.

Some even claimed he might leave the sport. However, Alonso decided to stay with Aston Martin, which he saw as his first option.

“Securing Fernando's future at Aston Martin is great news,” said team principal Mike Krack.

Krack stated that Alonso is hungry for success, fit and determined to make the team competitive.

This long-term agreement with Alonso will allow the team to stay together until 2026, when the power unit partnership with Honda begins.

Krack stated that they are looking forward to achieving more success together.

“We have built a strong working relationship over the last 18 months and we remain equally committed to seeing this project succeed.”

"We have been in constant dialogue over the last few months and Fernando has remained true to his word: when he decided that he wanted to continue racing, he talked to us first. Fernando showed that he believes in us, and we believe in him."

"Fernando is hungry for success, drives better than ever, is fitter than ever and is committed to making Aston Martin Aramco a competitive team."

"This multi-year agreement with Fernando will keep us together in 2026, when our power unit partnership with Honda will begin."

“We look forward to experiencing more incredible moments and achieving more success together.” said.
